Are You ready?!

Let’s talk about who The Intentional Nearlywed is for:

You’re engaged, and you want this once-in-a-lifetime period to be filled with joy and excitement!  You’re experiencing the emotional rollercoaster that this transition can feel like - and would love some support for stress-proofing yourself and your relationship. Whether you’re…

SP_who_1.png

Overwhelmed

by the sheer volume of decisions that need to be made, particularly with out-of-your-control factors like COVID-19

SP_who_2.png

Experiencing tension

in your relationship, or simply desiring more connection with your fiance during this transition

SP_who_3.png

Frustrated

with your family (of your fiance’s family) and unsure about how to best navigate setting boundaries and managing expectations

SP_who_4.png

Mostly elated…

but just a little stressed, and interested in self-growth and self-care

The Intentional Nearlywed is here to support you. Let’s explore how the program will give you the insight, tools and support to help you create the resilient engagement journey of your dreams.

By the end of this program, you will have:

SP_who_youwill.png
  • An in-depth understanding of the psychological transition into marriage, and why it can be uniquely complicated

  • A sustainable self-care routine to prevent burnout and build resilience

  • A toolbox of strategies to cope with overwhelming emotions, including anxiety

  • A more focused set of values and goals so you can stay true to yourself

  • A stronger sense of self-awareness, so you can honor yourself and your journey

  • A tried-and-true method for establishing connection, communication and collaboration with your fiancé

  • A greater sense of confidence in your capacity to navigate awkward or difficult conversations with family and friends

Wedding planning is extremely stressful, no matter who you are or the situation you are in. This process inevitably brings up a barrage of intense feelings with no outlet for expression. Elizabeth deconstructs the emotional distress that comes with wedding planning by illuminating the source of the stress and teaching her clients to manage it in healthy ways. She helps normalize the experience in a way that no friends or family ever could, giving her clients space to vent and process their emotions so they can show up on their wedding day in tune with their best selves.

What’s Inside?

Module 1:  Engagement Insight

IG3.png

We’re going to lay the foundation for engagement wellness here. You will take a deep dive into figuring out WHY this transition to marriage gives you so much excitement and joy on one hand, and fills you with stress and complex emotions on the other. You’ll get a holistic understanding of the unique forces at play during engagement that create overwhelm and tension.

  • You’ll get a firm understanding of the engagement period, so you can get a grip on what’s happening in your mind, body and heart as you navigate this transition.

  • You’ll explore the pressures put on you by our culture, communities and families, and understand how to navigate those expectations so you can make choices with freedom and decisiveness.

  • You’ll take a critical look at the influence of the wedding industry and its impact on your stress levels as you plan your wedding; and get clarity about how to cancel out unhelpful noise created by the wedding business.

  • You’ll clarify your personal values and priorities in order to give your life meaning, allow you to persevere through adversity, and plan a wedding and engagement that will be totally aligned with the true you.

  • You’ll explore old hurts, emotions and patterns that may be interfering with your engagement, including mental health challenges and tough relationship dynamics.

You’ll leave Module 1 with a foundation for emotional resilience because you’ll be armed with a deep understanding of all the factors (that no one talks about!) that can make your engagement period so surprisingly overwhelming. And, importantly, you’ll create a value-driven roadmap that’ll keep you anchored in your (and your fiancé’s) priorities so you can stay grounded when things get confusing and overwhelming!

Module 2: Balancing Engagement Emotions

IG4.png

Here’s where it pays to learn from a seasoned psychotherapist (that’s me!).  You’re going to get a crash course in improving your self-care routine and stress management skills.  In this module, you’ll learn proven tools and techniques to manage the anxiety, stress and complex emotions that often come with the engagement process, and leave with a clear sense of how to take care of yourself.

  • Implement a sustainable and actionable self-care routine to keep balanced throughout this stressful time and beyond

  • Harness the wisdom of your emotions so you no longer feel powerless to manage the ups and downs of your feelings

  • Discover exactly how to prevent and treat wedding burnout

  • Manage super intense emotions, including anxiety

  • Practice effective and validating strategies to combat negative thoughts and self-judgment

Module 2 will arm you with all the tools of the trade to nurture your mind, body and heart, and to connect with the intelligence of your emotions so you can use them, rather than be controlled by them.

Module 3:  Strengthening Your Relationship

This wedding planning thing is all about your relationship right?  It’s easy to forget this basic fact, so we spend Module 3 strengthening the relationship through research-based concepts and practices that you’ll implement now, and which will create the foundation for a resilient marriage.

IG2.png
  • Establish a safe, secure relationship through a research-driven practice.  By establishing a shared vision of the relationship and a firm support mechanism, you and your partner will implement a tried-and-true formula for relationship health.

  • Institute an ongoing communication method for sharing feelings, making requests, and increasing emotional intimacy.

  • Learn concrete communication tools for asking for what you need, validating your partner, and navigating conflict and tough conversations.

  • Master the fine art of compromise so you and your partner can bust through relationship standoffs and create a collaborative wedding and marriage.

By the end of Module 3, you’ll not only have a toolbox of enhanced skills for increased communication and intimacy, but you’ll have implemented a framework for a strong relationship support system, which will help you and your partner thrive even during stressful periods of life (wedding planning included!).

Module 4:  Navigating Family Dynamics during Engagement

Even the most wonderful and supportive families can present emotionally-draining challenges during the engagement period! Module 4 will arm you with all the knowledge, tools, and resilience to engage effectively with complicated family dynamics, expectations and pressures, freeing you up to make your own decisions and communicate those with confidence, all while keeping relationships intact.

IG1.png
  • Analyze the hidden meanings and feeling underlying family members’ behaviors and attitudes, so you can work with them effectively and feel less distracted

  • Maintain your own emotional stability even with family drama

  • Protect your own emotional wellbeing and not take on their feelings and pressure

  • Feel more free to have the wedding you want and desire

  • Communicate boundaries assertively while protecting your relationships

  • Problem-solve especially complicated issues

The presence and participation of family can truly make or break this powerful period of your life.  With the tools and wisdom of Module 4, you, yes YOU, will have everything you need to deal with family like a champ, masterfully transforming family complications into just an afterthought.

Plus You’ll Be Backed by a Risk-Free 14-Day Guarantee

Make no bones about it.  The Intentional Nearlywed is the one and only program that supports engaged people to combat wedding planning stress through proven tools and techniques, so you can feel grounded, empowered, and decisive, and create an intentional, resilient engagement journey for you and your partner.

We are so confident that our extraordinary course will feel majorly supportive through this wild time, that we give you 14 days to try it out risk-free.  By then, you’ll already have learned all about the psychology of this transition which support major emotional resilience, and put into practice some of the most effective stress reduction and emotion management strategies from psychology.

If you’re not already feeling supported by us at that point, simply reach out to us, show us you’ve participated and put in the effort, and we’ll refund your investment.

Burning Q’s other Intentional Nearlyweds asked before jumping into the course:

I’m feeling overwhelmed by life and this engagement process as it is.  Is this going to feel like just one more thing to do?

faq.png

I totally get it.  You may already feel busy, overcommitted, and full to the brim.  The last thing you need is another obligation.  That’s why The Intentional Nearlywed is intentionally dripped over 4 weeks - we spread out the material so you participate meaningfully at a slowish but consistent pace, allowing you to take your time with the lessons so you can take it in.

Each module contains 3 lessons, so you’ll have a full week to spend with those 3 lessons before more material is even available.  Plus, since you’ll have access to the course for a full year, there is no rush if you need to take some time and get back to it.

One of the goals of The Intentional Nearlywed is to help you implement a sustainable, flexible self-care routine that will be available to you always, well beyond your engagement journey.  That’s why we believe it’s imperative for you to make the time to care for yourself in this way.  Follow the schedule we recommend, and this will transform into time carved out for nurturing you and supporting your emotional resilience even after the 4-week course is over.

Does this course provide therapy?

No, this course does not provide therapy. Therapy requires a one-to-one contractual relationship with a therapist. While The Intentional Nearlywed was designed by a psychotherapist using psychological concepts and strategies, it is not therapy and is not a replacement for therapy. Think of it as an educational crash course in the psychology of engagement!

Do I need any materials to complete the course?

Just a computer and quiet space to participate!  You will receive pdf documents with exercises and journal prompts to complement each lesson, which you can print out and write on if a printer is available to you.  Alternatively, you can complete the exercises in whatever form you like - in a journal, Google doc, however you like to work.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered via video lessons in which yours truly (me, Elizabeth!) will teach on each topic.  You’ll also receive a workbook (via downloadable pdf), with exercises and prompts to complete along with each video lesson, so that the material will be immediately applicable and implementable for you and your personal life and journey.

Will I get to work with Elizabeth directly?

Elizabeth is not available in the independent study option.  However, the VIP option (which is only available if you purchase in May 2021) includes a live group kickoff and closing call with Elizabeth and the Kinship Intentional Nearlywed community! These group calls are a great opportunity to ask questions, get support from other nearlyweds, and discuss your experience!

When do I get access to the course?

If you join in May, you’ll get access to Module 1 on May 17!

Still thinking about it?

You should give The Intentional Nearlywed a 14-day risk-free shot if you can relate to any of the following:

You long to have your engagement journey set the tone for the marriage and life you’re creating - with you at your most self-aware, empowered, emotionally balanced and resilient.

Whether you’re stressed by external factors (like, you know, a global pandemic), overwhelmed by the details and decisions, feeling disconnected from your partner or pressured by your family, you’re sure this is not the engagement journey you had imagined.

More importantly, you know, perhaps somewhere in the back of your mind, that your relationship could be front-and-center of this time, and that all this other stuff is a distraction from creating a strong and resilient marriage.

That’s why you’re motivated beyond measure to invest the time and emotional energy right now in yourself, your emotional health, and your relationship health, so you can enter marriage with insight, clarity and next-level strategies to help you cope with even the biggest stressors.
